Australia’s T20 squad for the World T20 is to be announced on Tuesday as per reports of the Age and the Daily Telegraph. This might see Steve Smith captain the team in the T20 World Cup and continue to do so after Australia’s 3-0 series defeat against India in the recent T20 series.
Aaron Finch, who suffered a hamstring injury in the series against India, was quoted saying in this regard, “I’m the captain of the side and I’ve got the utmost respect for him as a player and as a leader.” He added, “I know that no matter what the situation, everyone is just there to win a game.”
This niggling injury might also see Finch not make the cut for the World T20 despite being in form. On the other hand Shane Watson after his impressive performance in the T20’s against India seems to be ready for a comeback in the Australian team for the WT20.
Also there are questions marks over Usman Khawaja’s inclusion in the side as the team management has been benching him for quite some time now. His BBL performances speaks for his current form but still it looks as if he is out of favor right now to get into the team.
