A wonderful unbroken seventh wicket stand between Mitch Marsh and Hastings seals the win for Australia. They looked to be on course – after Khawaja and Warner added 122 runs for the first wicket. They seemed to be coasting towards victory, the dismissal of Khawaja opened the floodgates. Smith fell for 2, Bailey got a first-ball duck, Maxwell fell for 4 and Warner was dismissed after a fluent 98. When Wade was superbly caught by Milne, New Zealand were eyeing a series win. But Mitch Marsh had different ideas. He had done well with the ball, even before he came to bat, he was a rich man, having pocketed a massive IPL deal. He took centre-stage, guided Hastings through his early nerves, and together, the pair added 86 runs to seal victory.
